Crossman Acquisitions have successfully secured planning permission for two dwellings on a former garage site in Frome. Given the site’s location within a Special Area of Conservation for Bats, Crossman Acquisitions Ltd have agreed a Wildlife Protection and Enhancement Scheme with Somerset Council to ensure the protection and enhancement of ecology on the site in the future.

Through careful design considerations and  negotiations with officers at the Council, Crossman Acquisitions were able to navigate their way through various technical matters during the determination of the planning application. These included choosing a design and appearance that would be appropriate to the local context, whilst protecting the amenity of neighbouring buildings and providing a satisfactory living environment for current and future occupiers of the new homes.

Acknowledging the site’s location within the settlement of Frome, the highway officer was also satisfied that the two new dwellings which would replace 16 garages would result in fewer trip movements to and from the site and overall would improve highway safety in the area.

The Crossman Group are looking forward to commencing the construction of these much needed homes, using high quality and low maintenance materials that will help to maintain the character of Frome for future generations to come!
