Landscape Proposals

A comprehensive landscape strategy has been prepared and will form part of the reserved matters submission, ensuring the development is green, attractive and well integrated into its surroundings:

  • A Landscape-Led Design – the development has been designed around a strong green framework, with tree lined streets, planting corridors and landscaped spaces shaping the layout from the outset;
  • Retention and Strengthening of Boundaries – existing trees and hedgerows will be retained where possible and enhanced with additional planting to create a well-screened and natural edge to the site and its interface with the countryside beyond;
  • Biodiversity at the Heart of the Scheme – The proposals include native plating, species-rich grassland (e.g. wet grassland and meadow grassland) and habitat areas (e.g. native scrub planting, species rich hedgerows and bulb planting) to deliver a measurable biodiversity net gain and support local wildlife;
  • Strong Green Buffers – continuous landscape buffers along the site boundaries, particularly to the south and east will provide ecological protection, visual screening and a clear transition to the countryside;
  • Sustainable Drainage Integrated into the Landscape – The attenuation basis is designed as a multi-functional green space, combining flood management with ecology and visual amenity;
  • High Quality Public Open Space – a locally equipped area of play (LEAP) will sit within attractive open space, overlooked by homes to ensure it is safe, welcoming and well-used;
  • Attractive Streets and Spaces – streets will be softened with tree planting, landscaped verges and beds of planting, creating a high-quality residential environment rather than a standard housing layout;
  • Green Connections – pedestrian routes that run through the site will be landscaped and connect to the surrounding area, encouraging walking and enhancing accessibility.
