Proposals for Residential Development and Associated Community Uses on Land at Perry Street, Tatworth

The Crossman Group is bringing forward proposals for residential development and associated community uses on land at Perry Street, Tatworth. The vision is to deliver a scheme that at its core, responds to the particular development needs of Tatworth, by providing both an appropriate mix of housing and also associated community uses, decided upon, by the community. The development will be a fantastic place for both young and old people to reside together, in a sustainable development that will serve Tatworth for many generations to come.

Overview of Proposals

The Crossman Group is proposing a sustainable development of up to 100 new homes including bungalows, aimed directly at the needs of older people, and affordable homes for those younger people trying to get on the property ladder, and also self-build plots for those seeking to build their own home. The housing will consist of:

  • 50 open market houses (a mix of sizes);
  • 10 open market bungalows;
  • 35 affordable homes (including 5 affordable bungalows); and
  • 5 self-build plots.

The plans also feature public open space including a play area, for both existing and new residents and additional informal car parking spaces for the adjacent McColls convenience store and nearby homes. Through discussion with the parish council and consultation with local residents, there is also scope to include other community uses within the development.

Your comments and suggestions, together with those of other statutory consultees, will be carefully considered by the design and planning team as they work up the proposals for an outline planning application. This will seek consent for the principle of development and the means of access.

The consultation period runs from 20 August to 13 September 2021.

All comments received will be analysed and shared in a Report of Community Involvement which will be submitted as part of the planning application to South Somerset Council later this year.
